Bio:

Doug’s amazing professional career has spanned stage, TV and film around the world. Born in Minnesota, Doug started dancing at age 7 and by 18 he had already moved to San Francisco to start his career. Within a year of his move, Doug became a member of Ed Mock’s West Coast Dance Company, which consisted of 14 dancers and toured the world. They were the opening act for many disco singers, including Gloria Gaynor and Sylvester, and performed at more than 30 universities around the U.S. Later, he continued his professional dance career by working on movies such as Stayin’ Alive, A Chorus Line, and the television show Charlie’s Angels. Doug says one of his favorite jobs was working with Rita Moreno for more than three years. They performed with Sammy Davis, Jr., opened for Dean Martin and played for Queen Elizabeth II of England, to name a few. One of his fondest memories was hanging out with everyone from Frank Sinatra to Barbra Streisand.

In 1984, Doug Caldwell joined Tremaine Dance Conventions in an effort to bring his talents to young, aspiring dancers and teachers. Doug remained with Tremaine for 24 years and has influenced the world as a dance teacher like few others. In recent years his career has seen a resurgence. He has appeared in The Sweetest Thing with Cameron Diaz and longtime student and friend Christina Applegate, Austin Powers 3 - Goldmember" with Mike Meyers, "13 Going On 30" with Jennifer Garner and "Mr. & Mrs. Smith with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. He has also appeared in three movies for HBO, four commercials, and will be in the new ABC television series Eli Stone as well as Viva Laughlin with Hugh Jackman. In addition, Doug is an international master teacher, working in such countries as Canada, Mexico, Japan, Costa Rica, Sweden and Austria. Recently, he has worked behind the scenes on FOX's hit dance show, So You Think You Can Dance. Doug, based on his dance career, is a member of seven entertainment unions, including two in Europe, and has Produced, Directed and Choreographed his charity benefit concert Love is All That Matters several times over the years.

Doug Caldwell an educator in the truest sense of the word, with a passion for teaching and love of dance that is unrivaled. Doug is currently on tour as a faculty member with JUMP dance convention.
